Winchester Cathedral ringing to honour troops' return on Jan 29
To welcome back Hampshire -based servicemen and women returning from active duty in Afghanistan and Iraq, there will be a parade through the centre of Winchester followed by a special reception in the Great Hall.
The Winchester reception will be a special event and Hampshire will be the first county to welcome home its massed forces in this way.
Before the parade sets off and whilst the troops are assembling there will be Open Ringing at Winchester Cathedral onTuesday, 29th Jan.2008 10.30am-11.30am.
All bellringers are welcome to come and honour the military efforts of their countrymen and women.
Unfortunately parking in the Cathedral Close will not be available and it would be advisable to use the 'Park and Ride' as Winchester is expecting a huge turn out on this day.
