The church dates back to Saxon times though nothing earlier than 1200 is visible, the tower was rebuilt in the sixteenth century (and the church restored on 3 separate occasions in the nineteenth century).
Access to bells through the church. They were rehung in 1969, have a long draft (with rope guides), and are very odd struck at present (2005). They are rather heavy to ring and are better rung quickly.

Access through main church door and short wooden spiral staircase to a small ringing chamber. They are a lovely little 5, rehung in a metal frame for the Millenium and easy to ring.
The flint and stone church was built in 1845.

The ringing chamber was moved to the first floor in 1998, and is accessed by an easily mountable wooden staircase. No particular problems with the bells, which are commented on favourably by visitors as lovely to ring.
13th century church, the tower was built (rebuilt?) following a fire 1744.
Cheriton is the site of the famous civil war battle of 1644.

The 14th century church is on the north side of the road, at the west end of the village.
Crawley is a most attractive village, which boasts the duck pond used in 'To the Manor Born'.
Medium sized village church, originally Norman with numerous additions & alterations over the centuries, it is east of the main road (signposted).
Bells hung in a tower built on to the 13th century church in 1897-8, access inside the church porch. The blocked up windows separating the ringing chamber from the church are not soundproof.
A Taylor 8 on plain bearings, with a longish draft but not flighty, though the 1 and 2 need a firm pull on the sally. The tenor goes beautifully.
The church is at the end of a drive, marked by a signpost, immediately north of a speed limit sign -- 1.5 miles north of Lockerley, about a mile north of the Star Inn.
There are no immediate neighbours, but the sound of the bells carries a long way over the fields.

A 13th century church, enhanced by Woodyer in the 1860s.
Ground floor, rung in the vestry at the back of the church. The bells are hung in a mediaeval oak frame with the ropes falling in a straight line -- tuning 1-3 of 4. The treble was cast circa 1494-1509, the tenor in 1603, and the 2nd is late 14th century.
The church is 1½ miles north of Lower Slackstead - set in the glorious country used for Worzel Gummidge, from which the Isle of Wight can be seen on a fine day.
Low ceilinged ringing chamber - the no 7 in particular needs a long straight pull at backstroke; access via fairly steep staircase at the back of the church.
Access to ringing chamber through an external door at the SW corner of the church. For parking turn into the lane just north of the church. Toilets in church hall.

The 13th century church is in the centre of the village, opposite the pub.
Treble 1927, tenor recast 1911, 2,3,4 recast 19th C., 5th is older. The bells were retuned by Whitechapel and rehung by Matthew Higby with new fittings in 2001. They are not difficult to ring, but are challenging to ring well. The ropes hang round an unusually large font at the back of the church.
The church is mostly 1864 by Colson, but the tower is probably early thirteenth century. The bells, which were augmented to 5 and refurbished in 1994, go quite well in general. Access is by a vertical ladder which some people find difficult. There is limited parking near the lych gate.
Nearest pub is the Cart and Horses -- very old with OK beer & a garden - Edward Heath used to stop there after sailing.
The church is by the road, on the west side of the A3057.
Access is by an outside door opening onto a stone spiral staircase. Key to nearby toilets available. Ample parking outside the church, which is on the Romsey Road, north of the railway bridge.
A Taylor 6, rehung in 2002 by Hayward Mills, they are a delight to ring -- the only snags are the clock case between the 5 & 6, and that the bells are a bit loud in the ringing chamber(and worse down below).
The ringers use the Star Inn, on the Tytherley road, or the Mill Arms at Dunbridge.
Ground floor ring inside the church, which was largely rebuilt in 1880 by William White ( the architect of Lyndhurst parish church). It is towards the north end of the village, unmistakable when you get there. Limited parking in Church Road.

6.4 miles NNE of Winchester.Rung at the back of the church, access through west door. The tall flint & stone mediaeval tower is separated from the chancel by a remarkable 1808 brick octagon which lets the light flood into the interior.

with a long draught that can trouble some ringers. The tenor was cast
in 1891 and the other bells between 1663 and 1718. Bell 2
always tries to go up wrong, treble is difficult to ring from
beside the font; otherwise they ring beautifully after being tuned by
Whitechapel and rehung in the existing framework by Martin Waldron in
1991.
Limited parking space by the Grade I listed 12th century church -
ringers are asked not to block Church Road.Follow signs to Mottisfont Abbey, then, if approaching from the B3084, turn right at the T junction by the Abbey gates.
The nearest pubs are the Mill Arms at Dunbridge and Tally Ho at Broughton.
11.9 miles WNW of Winchester, not an easy ring for beginners.
The tower is 1704 but the church much older, with many interesting features.
Turn north over the brook at the sign on the 'main' road through the village, then left.
Access through west door to easily mountable steps(but descend backwards) leading to 2nd floor.
Early 14th century tower but otherwise the church is mostly the 1898 work of Sir Arthur Blomfield.
Park in the main street, or at the end of Station Road (signposted to the Watercress lIne) and walk through the churchyard.
The church was rebuilt around 1600 and has since had 2 restorations, including one by Bodley in the late 19th century. Memorials include one to the Lord Chief Justice who tried Guy Fawkes.

Flint and stone church with a big west tower, rebuilt mid nineteenth century. The oldest bell is 1602 but rehung when the church was rebuilt, and with the rope guides put in for the millenium they are easy to ring. Access tio a spiral staircase inside the main church door.
Pub at nearby Totford, the Grange (ancient monument) in Northington, toilets in the vestry (but ringers do not have a key).
An eighteenth century church with an 1862 gothicised interior.
13.5 miles WNW of Winchester. Access through the north door of the church.
12th century, the interior thoroughly restored in the nineteenth century. The tower, with its slightly cosy ringing chamber, was added by Pearson in around 1870.
Church is 1866 by Colson, with a SW porch tower - external access behind the porch.
Turn north off the A31, or take narrow lane off the Alresford roundabout, and persevere until you see the church.
Early English church with a late 17th century tower.
A very light six. Some ringers find they take a bit of getting used to, but they rattle round quite nicely once you've got the measure of them.
Brick and flint church 1884-5 by Sir Arthur Blomfield; NW tower with a shingled spire. Toilets in the vestry but ringers do not have the key, pub in the village.
Access through a door to the east of the north porch -- buzz and ask for the inner door to be released. Toilets in the church rooms.

easy ring.The church has an 11th century chancel. The railed off north aisle contains the Tichborne chapel with monuments to members of the family.
External access at the base of the tower.
From the Alresford roundabout on the A31 take the first right -- in Tichborne turn right by the thatched cottage.
The church, rebuilt by Waterhouse in 1876-7. is in Church Lane -- on the left north of the traffic lights.

Early 13th century with a late perpendicular (1520) tower -- the interior was gutted by fire and restored by Sir T. G. Jackson in 1908. From Sutton Scotney the church will be found at the end of the village - turn north into the drive as the road bends to the right.
Access is by ladder but it is worth the effort -- the bells (treble 1932, remainder 1802) which were rehung and tuned in 1981 are a pleasure to ring.
